About Your Teacher
My name is Joanne Kaye. I am one of 4 visual art teachers at Moutain Ridge High School. I was born in Chicago Illinois too long ago to devulge! I attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (and I won't tell you that date either!!!). I have taken many classes to explore new mediums and learn new things about old ones. I especially enjoy photography and printmaking classes.
When I have free time I enjoy being with my family. Some of my favorite activities are going to the movies, traveling, and shopping. I also enjoy attending dance performances, theater performances, and reading mystery novels and historical fiction.
I have ten years of high school art teaching experience in schools around Chicago. This is my sixth year teaching full time in the Deer Valley school district. I was at O'Connor High School for 3 years before joining the staff at Mountain Ridge in 2006. I also taught part time at Paseo Hills K-8 for a year. I substituted for several years in the Cave Creek School District before returning to teaching.
During the time I took off from teaching to be a full time mom, I volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader for 6 years. I co-lead a Cub Scout Den for 3 years. I taught and helped develop the art enrichment program at my children's elementary school. I enjoyed being the preschool story time coordinator at our local library for several years.
I have been happily married to Rick Greenberg for a very long time. (no clues here either) We have 2 children who are 14 and 19. My daughter is a sophomore at NAU. My son is a high school freshman and an avid metal guitarist. We have lived in Arizona for almost 15 years.
Every summer we enjoy going back to Chicago to visit family and friends. This past summer I got to spend an afternoon at one of my favorite Chicago institutions, The Art Institute of Chicago! (and the Museum of Science and Industry) We also had a great time at America's largest waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells!!!! I really like the body slides! : o
